Please contact the school (the morning of the absence) if your child is absent – we are only a phone call away. We appreciate a phone call

before we start checking on where your child is:

Phone 376 8910 Safety is of great importance.

It is important that all students have their books so they are able to work in class.  Routines and expectations are being set now and it is difficult if some students have books and others do not.

We are starting a Big kick start for home reading for the whole school on Monday 14 – Please have your money for the reading logs to school as soon as possible. If there are any problems about payment please contact the class teacher or Mrs Cameron to see if arrangements can be made. Those who don’t have their reading logs won’t have their stickers as quickly as those who start on Monday.

Please fill in the EOTC form and the Pool Questionnaire and return to school as soon as possible.

School Banking

Don’t forget that the ANZ bank encourages children to bank –

School banking is available at Hillcrest School on Tuesday.

Drink bottles in class:  children may bring a named plastic drink bottle to use if they need a drink in class time. This is for water only.  They can bring a different drink bottle of juice etc for break times. Fizzy drink is not encouraged.

Many thanks to Rochelle Brookes who washed and dried all our sunhats over the weekend – they are smelling fresh and clean.

Swimming

Due to the heat we are now walking to the pool and catching a bus back to school.  All children will swim (please send a note if they are not.)  Please send togs even if the weather is doubtful – the day can change!

Hillcrest School Swimming Sports

These will be held in our usual swimming time of 1.00 – 2.00 pm. If 1 March is wet we will have the sports on the next fine swimming day.

Sausage sizzle –

$1.50 for a sausage and bread on Wednesdays. Drinks are $1.00

Fish and chips are on Fridays.

Duffy theatre will be here on 17th February – there is no charge for the show.

Parents and pre-schoolers are welcome. Put aside 11.30 to come up to school and share the Show.

Our Duffy Books are sponsored by Dannevirke and Masterton Warehouse. Thank you for your sponsorship – it is appreciated.  Families can show their appreciation by supporting both these Warehouse shops.

To help cover the cost of the swimming bus and because it is so hot we are selling ice creams for $1 on a Friday for the next few weeks. We need some parent help to roll the ice cream in the morning – if you are able to help please contact Christine at School.

On Friday 18th we are fortunate to have a visiting NZ illustrator and author David Elliot coming to school to talk to the students in the afternoon.  We will not be swimming on this date. There is no cost for this.
